The Dogma of Papal Infallibility: The Key to Security in an Uncertain World

In a world where trusted institutions are collapsing, understanding the Divine side--of Holy Mother Church is more important than ever. Aiding that understanding is the goal of this video discussion.

We live in an uncertain world, even in the best times. And these are far from the best times. There are wars and rumors of wars. There is economic hardship. The Catholic Church, from a purely human perspective, can look like a complete mess from the outside, and in many ways, that’s true.

But underneath that mess is the Divine side of Holy Mother Church, and that is where our source of security can lie in these very uncertain times.

The office of the papacy is the key to understanding how Catholics believe the Holy Spirit preserves Divine Revelation amidst human sinfulness. Catholic teaching of papal infallibility is often misunderstood, including by most Catholics. Even those of us who profess to understand it can always dig deeper and gain new insight into a perennial teaching.

In this video discussion, I’m joined by John Tuturice and Bob LeBlanc, who share their strong biblical and historical understandings of papal infallibility, how it’s intended to work for ordinary people, what it means, and what it doesn’t mean. We hope it helps your own journey and feel free to share comments below!
