The political season is at fever pitch right now, as we drive towards November 8 and the biggest midterm election the United States has faced since 1930, at the onset of The Great Depression. People are anxious and passions are running high, including right here on Corned Beef Catholicism. But one thing doesn’t change—the biggest choice we make is not the one in the ballot box every two years, but the one we make every day in choosing virtue or sin.

The spiritual treasury of the Catholic Church gives us tremendous insights into the specific ways this choice can manifest itself in our daily life. The Seven Deadly Sins and The Four Cardinal Virtues are at the railhead of the spiritual life. In this episode, we called on John Tuturice, who has a masters’ degree in theology and philosophy, to help us gain a deeper understanding of what makes up sin and virtue.

Our discussion goes for 2-plus hours. Just put it on for anything from your commute or while you work around the house. And if you have insights to share, we’d love to hear them in the comments.
