The corruption of the Biden family is not something that would have been unknown inside of their circles of power and influence. That the corruption doesn't bother the elites indicates how widespread it is. In fact, Ukraine has been used as a means for money laundering / pay to play by both parties. What is more telling is that "the Big Guy" is not, to be charitable, a quality political thinker. From a Democratic viewpoint, he is not someone that you would want to be standard bearer of the party. The corruption should have been the excuse for those powers that be to keep Biden's foolishness sidelined. That it was not and he was foisted upon the politically savvy Obama (who clearly didn't like him) indicates the degree to which he is controlled and beholden to others. That he was selected in 2020 when he was clearly suffering from one form or another of age related cognitive decline underscores the degree of this control as well as indicates that the levers of executive power are no longer exactly in the Executive Branch. (Which would go along way to explaining why Trump wasn't as successful as he should have been).
